Welcome to DisabilityMe!
I created DisabilityMe after my own personal experiences left me with the realisation that we still have a way to go to creating a world of equal opportunities for all and many questions of where we can go now.
I was born with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome: type 3, a hereditary disease causing chronic pain and frequent dislocations across the body.
I live a wonderful life and have embraced my disabilities, realising they give me strength and a set of skills completely unique to my situation.
I want everyone to feel that way.
Throughout the years I have had the honour of meeting the amazing, strong people who have not been so fortunate as me in their health and situations, as well as the professionals who dedicate their lives to supporting them through their lives.
I want to share their stories and interact with like-minded groups and people who want to connect and help lead the discussion on how we can help enable those affected by mental health, disability and chronic illness overcome the barriers which prevent them from leading wholesome, fulfilling lives.
Some of these stories already have their endings; I have lost my mother to heart disease and my brother to depression. There are losses along the way of any battle. They make us fight all the harder.
And so, DisabilityMe is born.
